Electricity: NV Energy

NV Energy is the sole electric utility for residential customers in Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin, North Las Vegas, and most of Clark County. You cannot choose a different provider.

  • Phone: (702) 402-5555 | (800) 331-3103
  • Online: nvenergy.com
  • Deposit: May be required for new customers. Waived with proof of good credit or a previous account in good standing.
  • Start date: Can start on a specific date. Online account setup is straightforward.

Natural Gas: Southwest Gas

Southwest Gas provides natural gas to all of Las Vegas. Gas is needed for furnaces, water heaters, dryers, and gas stoves.

  • Phone: (877) 860-6020
  • Important: Gas service activation requires an in-person technician visit for a safety check. An adult must be home.
  • Lead time: Schedule at least 7 days in advance — slots fill quickly in fall and winter.

Water and Sewer: Varies by City

Water provider depends on your specific city — not just which county you're in.

  • Las Vegas / Unincorporated Clark County: Las Vegas Valley Water District — (702) 870-4194
  • Henderson: City of Henderson Utility Services — (702) 267-5900
  • North Las Vegas: (702) 633-1275 or (702) 633-1484

Trash and Recycling: Republic Services

Republic Services handles residential trash for most of Clark County — (702) 735-5151. Before signing up, check whether your HOA includes trash service in your monthly dues. Some communities do, and you'd be paying twice.

Internet: Check Your Address

Internet availability varies by block in Las Vegas. Check availability at your specific address before signing up:

  • Cox Communications: Widest coverage in Las Vegas. Cable internet, 100-2000 Mbps.
  • Quantum Fiber: Available in select neighborhoods. Fiber speeds with symmetrical upload/download.
  • Starlink: Satellite — available everywhere in Clark County, no cable required. Higher latency but reliable speeds.
